As many penalties as he has had last year he should be lucky to be getting paid at all.

Both sides have agreed to mediation. At least this is a step in the right direction.

I was hearing they could extend negotiations even though the CBA expires tomorrow, but maybe that reporter was being hopeful or overly optimistic.

They can extend it. No clue if they will or not though.

At least all 10 owners on the committee showed up today. Losing the TV money may have been a factor.

As much as I have always loved football, know quite a bit about it, this is really frustrating when you consider the billions and millions of dollars. I can see the players side somewhat when you consider owners like Jerry Jones and the monster stadium. New stadiums are a major expense, owners want money back from the players for them, players say why should they give back money to pay for them. Over simplifying what I read but then again, with millions or billions involved, just do it! :-(

Assuming the NFL were to match 2010 revenues in 2011, the players stand to lose $600 million under the owner-proposed agreement.

Just some rough numbers... the players had a share of 4.8B last year. They stand to earn 600M less next year. That is a 12.5% paycut. Its not negligible. And, in order for the players to get back to their 2010 earnings, the league would need to earn an extra 1B, a ~10% increase.
