He basically said that Eli has to show some consistency and return back to the playoffs next year due to maintaining a high level of play. Remember when the Giants won the SB in 2008, the next season the Giants were one and done followed by 2 straight seasons without a playoff berth. Kurt also said you can't claim he is a HOF QB just because he has 2 rings because it all was about the team being hot late in the season. Like when the cardinals went to the playoffs in 2009 and ended up in the SB against the Steelers. Kurt explained that team was not a great team just a team who got hot late in the season.
So basically from this point on Eli has to be like Tom Brady, Donovan Mcnabb, and Peyton Manning.
"He has to led his team to the playoffs for consecutive seasons not make the playoffs one season and missed the playoffs the next 2 or 3 seasons.
Brady...."His team made the playoffs 6 straight seasons, 2005 to 2011
Mcnabb..."His team made the playoffs 5 straight seasons, 2000 to 2005
Peyton..."His team made the playoffs 8 straight seasons, 2002 to 2010
So Warner made a good point, yes winning a SB is always a good thing but Eli is far from a lock from being a first ballot HOFER because of his numbers below
So you can see that there is not a lot of consistency with Eli as a starting QB but that doesn't mean he can't change that. Let's see if the Giants can make the playoffs for the next 4 or 5 seasons.
