Manning before Marino? That's crazy. Take the star running backs away from #2, #3,and #5 and then tell me how well they would have fared? I can't dog Elway because he was solid.
I don't base ranking all time players based on If this and If that... or potential. I base it on how they ACTUALLY played and what ACTUALLY happened.

Brady hasnt had a single star running back and Manning has only had above average running backs and his passing has always been the focal point of the offense. He could have had below average running backs and it would not have had much impact on him.

I wouldn't consider Joseph Addai, Dominic Rhodes and Donald Brown above average. Edgerrin James hasn't been around here since 2005
Corey Dillon was a top back even before he got to New England. Maroney sucked, though. That guy was a total waste of a draft pick for the Pats.

Sonny was a HOF Quarterback. All the more impressive since he played for some bad coaches. By the time Lombardi and Allen showed up, Sonny was in his twilight.
I think that we have a lot of youngsters answering this poll....
Jurgenson was a major force on a mediocre 60s Redskins team that had virtually no running game; in the mid-late 60s, he had some outstanding receivers such as Charley Taylor, Bobby Mitchell and Jerry Smith ( later had Roy Jefferfson), and he used all of them..
Mitchell once said of Jurgenson: "Sonny could hit a gnat from 50 yards.."
