He had an old but effective Kurt Warner at QB during their Super Bowl year. When Kurt retired, that is when the problems started. I would put the QB problems on the GM.
They should sign Alex Smith after the 9ers cut bait with him after this season. If they can find a franchise QB (if they sign Smith), come back and talk about Wisenhunt next year.

Well based on last year, he would be a upgrade over Kolb and Skelton
But he struggles when he gets faced with a new offensive play book. It would take a couple of years for him to get on track again. By then, Whisenhunt will be fired. At which point in time,
Smith gets another new play book.
