Im a fan of neither but, that had to be THE dumbest play call in super bowl history. Coach should be canned. No exceptions. Talk about snatching defeat frome the jaws of victory. If I were a player, I'd want to be traded.
Agreed. All Seattle had to do was push across the goal line.
But NO they had to get fancy and it cost them the Super Bowl.
30 some odd seconds left. 1-2 yard line, 2nd down, one time out left. Can the coach. It's inexcusable. Just take A breath and promptly run it up the middle off guard or around end in that order. I feel sorry for Seattle. They earned that one and now, thanks to their coach, they lost. Impossible to watch that again.
Pete Rose anywhere in the stands or sidelines giving "advice"? High School teams rarely do something this stupid. Hey Carrol, it ain't college.
I wouldn't have called a pass play.. And I think if it were a pass play, it should have been an over-the-shoulder corner of the endzone play where either your guy gets it, or it's out of bounds. But.. Yeah.. Lynch could have basically fallen over the line and scored.. But, that's basically what the Pats would have been expecting.. If it had worked, he'd have been called a genius.
I don't agree with the play call.. But.. Is what it is. If it gets Joe Gibbs off the hook for dumbest call in Super Bowl history ("Rocket Screen" in SB18)
I think it becomes the worst playcall in NFL history because you have an all time great back in Lynch. If you had "no running game" its not as bad of a call but with a guy they call Beast Mode, it makes no sense to not utilize a guy like that.
Carroll calling a play like that essentially said "we dont think we can score if you know whats coming" but smash mouth beast mode football doesn't care, they ram it in there and make you stop it.
Shocking shockingly bad decision at the very worst time.
I'm no football pro but some of the plays were back to back across the middle by the Seahawks and I knew the next play would be a pass to the right and I was correct.......New England must have seen that also.
Seems they left the best plays back in Seattle.
Brady was throwing his best plays to his right for the 1st downs.
Sure, could have run it but none of us are play callers. You see the same thing in games during the entire season.
How many of you screw up at work and should be canned for it? Still think Carroll should get the axe?
I thought it very strange that Belichick had not called a time out to save time for his team to attempt a comeback after the certain touchdown Seattle was going to score. Then there comes an odd call and a pickoff. The Patriots win one of the most unlikely games in NFL history. And in the post game celebration and interviews Belichick is not seen smiling once.
Is he a freaking alien or something?
