Shorten pre season to 2 games, but increase the reg season to 18 games so the first 2 weeks of the regular season teams have expanded roosters to evaluate talent. Then week 3 all teams cut down to 53 players. That way theres more interest and the league and teams profit more.

Which makes no sense since the teams that need to evaluate talent can potentially then have to crawl out of an 0-2 hole. The purpose of preseason is to evaluate draft picks and free agents, assess varying schemes and determine starters/reserves. Not getting why the weird expectation the NFL has to shorten when they're already the shortest preseason of the major sports leagues and by far the shortest regular season. It truly doesn't make any sense to argue other than fan selfishness.

Selfishness hardly, at a time when injuries are up and the NFLPA limits player practices and pad contact its important not to expose players to more than necessary in meaningless games. The 4th preseason game no starters play in half empty stadiums anyway. Nobody wants to see games that don't count at a time when viewership is down. Most of the starting position players are determined before preseason.

It's interesting that there's a completely different viewpoint about the NFL versus MLB for example. Clearly attendance isn't a big deal for them in preseason, nor the "meaninglessness". Perhaps it's more about the typical NFL fan and the inability to become interested for any length of time, which might explain the overuse of bright graphics and loud music during telecasts.
I'll be honest, football is the only sport I enjoy. I could watch it year round. I miss when it was six.
Why would you miss it when it was 6? All that meant was it went from 6 to 4 preseason games and 14 to 16 regular season games. You just got two more games that meant something.
The Preseason can Be shortened, and if the league wants to throw a game in Mexico, England or wherever, do it in Preseason.
