I was a wrestling fan in the past (I don't watch the current product) but the problem with Vince is that he seems to fail at any non-wrestling venture. What has he done well besides wrestling? The World Bodybuilding Federation (WBF) was a dismal failure, the XFL was a dismal failure and his production company (WWE Studios) puts out a lot of crap but I don't think any of them have become big, mainstream movies unless they have The Rock in them. I don't anticipate this going well at all.
I thought I was the only one who remembered the World Bodybuilding Federation. I'll admit, I actually tuned into a few episodes of Bodystars, the weekly WBF program that aired on USA Network on Saturday mornings.

Anyone around in the 90's remembers that.. Going back to the person you quoted, the movie studio is actually not a bad deal for them. They're not trying to do mainstream movies. They're in the direct-to-DVD market with their studio.
My understanding, it makes decent money for them. Nothing earth shattering, but.. They already have most of the facilities, so, why not make sure they're being used as much as possible?
Interesting, as Winston Moss is an edgy personality. The GB press corp is pretty tame compared to larger, National markets, and he could not get along with them, especially his last year. Should be fun in LA! He interviewed for head coaching jobs but never got one. Rumor was his interviews did not go well, I forget which teams.
Definitely better than the AAF, you need to keep people interested in the league, especially when most have short attention spans. So having games on the big networks that people already know, should help. Will it be enough for the league to not fold in a year or two, I guess time will only team.
Knowing Vince, he's going to promote the heck out of this second go around.
I'll update the AAF topic with the other article.. Both are worth reading. The AAF article shows some depth on just how poorly financed the league was.
