Joe Burrow has been all the Cincinnati Bengals hoped for when they selected the quarterback No. 1 overall in the 2020 NFL draft.
The Bengals made sure Thursday that Burrow will be throwing passes in Cincinnati for years to come. Burrow and the Bengals agreed to a five-year, $275 million contract extension, a person familiar with the deal confirmed to USA TODAY Sports, making the quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose financial terms of the agreement.
Who Dey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go Bengals
To tell the truth, I never thought that the Brown family would part with that much. But, glad they did.
Wooh! $275 million for 5 years makes out $55 million a year. Burrow is set to make approximately 100 times more money than Winnipeg Blue Bombers QB Zach Collaros who until recently was the highest paid CFL player at $550,000 guaranteed money (and ironically played for U of Cincinnati Bearcats and is an Ohio native). That's the difference between a top NFL draft pick and someone who wasn't even drafted.

Until an athlete wins a Super Bowl, Stanley Cup, World Series, NBA Championship etc I'm not sure if its worth it for an organization to dole out that kind of cash to one person. There are other people on the team who need a paycheck. I love JB but $275 for 5 years?
Point being a top QB is worth the money, of course, but how to pay to keep a decent team on the field?
Yeah, and then he plays like crap, but hey he got his money, that's all that matters, am I right!
I wonder how much of the $275 million is guaranteed?
I can't even believe the Chargers Herbert got a $262.5 million contact back in July, at least Burrow, made it to a Super Bowl and almost won it.
Herbert hasn't really done anything in the postseason.
$219M guaranteed.
I think we all know that Joe will rebound. If I was a Bengal fan, my concerns would be injury. Jets fans can relate.
