To think Irsay single-handedly grew the brand is kinda short-sighted. They wouldn't be where they are right now without Peyton Manning. Manning took a team that hadn't been relevant in almost 30 years and made them into a contender.
Dude...part of those great decisions that Irsay made was bringing in Peyton Manning!! A smart businessman surrounds himself with the best!
You act like Manning did it all by himself too....
and oops.......it looks like Irsay brought in another great GM and coach.....and QB.
Will be painful in more ways than one to not be able to be at this one. Had a little foot surgery, will be home watching this one. The traveling weather? As nice a week of weather in my area that you can get, temps at the game should be around 70.
WW should be back tomorrow. Wesley Woodyard has been missed on the field, good to get him back, the neck stinger he had has kept him out of the past couple games. Kevin Vickerson has been fined $10K by the NFL for the extracurriculars in last Sunday's game against the Colts. Rookie free agent C.J. Anderson out of California gets his chance tomorrow as Ronnie Hillman has been deactivated for the game.
Yesterday I was streaming on 104.3 "The Fan" and Sandy Clough had a good 20 minute interview with Mike Shanahan. The usual topics were bantered about, and Shanahan pretty much took the high road on them. According to Fox31 Sports last night, the Bronco organization will do a 30 second tribute for Shanahan before the team introductions.
Champ Bailey of course is out for the game. Both Chris Kuper and Orlando Franklin are listed as questionable. The bye week coming up next weekend couldn't come at a better time for the both of them.

With the bye week coming up I'd rather see the team take the short term risk on the O-line and leave Kuper and Franklin out so they are both healthy returning from the bye. This is a good week for the defense to step up and make the difference, and I feel like Manning's quick release against the Skins' secondary may help mask the problems on O-line. What say you, HH?
Also, I hope you recover from your foot surgery quickly. I may be looking at another knee surgery myself. Not pleasant.

It would be nice if the two could get a rest, we'll see how the offensive braintrust shuffles the deck here. A month ago I was concerned about losing Clady for the season. Still am. You can be sure Peyton's thought process has been working overtime this week. And what certainly got his attention was Chicago putting up 41 points on D.C.
The foot? Nothing serious. I know about bad knees, mine went kerrpowey in 1970. I'll dm ya message later regarding the particulars. You're right about not pleasant!

The foot? Nothing serious. I know about bad knees, mine went kerrpowey in 1970. John Leidholt was the Bronco surgeon at that time and he was the one who worked on both my knees. He referred to the right one as a "Rich Jackson" knee. After four decades you don't really walk right, mind you back then it was glorified meat ball surgery. Other problems crop up later. And you're right about not pleasant!
The Bears with their backup QB put up 41 on the Redskins. I can see the Broncos doing the same, though every game takes on its own dynamic.
You give me a lot to look forward to, my friend. I'm 33, so I think I'm still young enough to bounce back from it. But last fall I got my surgery for a meniscus tear. I guess it didn't work because after doing all the rehab and taking an insane amount of time away from running, it still hurts like crazy when I run. To top it off, I am going to a specialist in a few days to get my ankle looked at. I suffered a severe ankle sprain this past summer, then made it worse on two separate trail runs. Ugh. It was swollen to twice its normal size. At least my right leg is still in okay shape!

GO DENVER!!!!!!! Let's get back to business......
(I feel your pain...had my first knee surgery early 70's/ in my late teens in the Springs, benign bone tumor...beautiful view of Pikes Peak every day lol.......for a week, back then they strapped ya to a bed. Fast forward to my late 30's, blew a meniscus on same knee while on rescue call...kicked out of hospital day of surgery as they do these days. Knee was JUST getting strong again had to have bone removed on my GOOD ankle.....I avoid Dr's......)
The Broncos aren't playing like a playoff contender right now. For the second week in a row the offense looks mediocre. They can't run the ball worth a crap and they're throwing nothing but 3-5 yard dink and dunks everywhere. Hope the bye helps get some guys rested up because the wheels are starting to come off the bus.
Halftime with the visiting Redskins at Mile High, score tied 7-7.
The Redskin touchdown with 20 seconds left in the half was a gift from Denver, i.e., the 'skins were about to kick a field goal but the Broncos were penalized for 12 men on the field - an automatic first down for the 'skins who went on to score a TD and tie the game. Should've been 7-3 Denver at halftime, but the mistake cost them 4 extra points which I hope doesn't come back to haunt Denver at the end of the game.
Washington seemed to move the ball well on the ground and their defense has held Denver to just 7 points.

Offense has played some ultra conservative ball the last two weeks. It keeps resulting in third and long, and that's when they keep getting into problems. And now Manning with a pick-6. Great game, Broncos.
