hey guys-is there a rhyme or reason to when an NFL team gets to wear their throwback uniforms?
just curious, I don't know if there's a certain number of years, or how it's determined?
thank you!

Good question sportsfangal!
It's my understanding that it is up to the coach and players to when they wear them. Most, if not all NFL clubs have what they call "alumni weekend" where they introduce past players at halftime to the crowd and the players wear the retro uniforms on that Sunday. It's their way of honoring the past players. The alumni weekend in most stadiums are done earlier in the season. Not all the clubs do it that way, though.

I think they are allowed to wear "home alternate" jerseys only twice a year.
