Our winters can be brutal some years. For this reason, there are some winters where a space heater comes in really handy. With a space heater, we find that we don't have to turn the furnace up which will heat the entire house, we just use our space heater in the room that we want the extra warmth and only use it while we are in that room. We bought the Holmes Energy Saver Heater and it does the job perfectly. For approximately $50.00 (on sale) up to $140.00, it does a very good job of keeping one room at a nice, toasty temperature. There is a five-year warranty included with each purchase.
We like this space heater for the fact that it is quiet and won't tip over easily. With four fairly large, active dogs in the house, we had to make sure that we bought one that isn't easy to tip over. It is a tower model which is great because it doesn't take up too much space in a room. The unit weighs approximately 9 pounds and measures 11.4 x 11.3 x 23 inches. It also has an auto shut off which is great not to have to get up each time the room gets to the temperature that we like it to be. The heater oscillates to direct and spread the warmth around the room. When the temperature reaches the preset range, the heater will automatically shut off. It contains three ceramic elements for the best source of heating, there is a filter that traps the dust and includes a remote so you can control the functions without having to constantly get up to make any changes. There is actually a temperature gauge so that you can set an actual temperature rather than a preset one-two-or-three setting.
The one and only drawback that I have found is that when using the remote control to change the temperature, there is no way of knowing if you have actually made a successful change or not. It does not always "take" successfully the first time and you either have to get up to check, or wait to see if it makes a difference in the temperature of the room.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this heater to anyone. It works extremely well and it made very well.
