If you are looking for a new blender, you definitely should consider the KitchenAid KSB560. I recently acquired it, and I have been thrilled with it so far. It is reasonably priced and that is always a huge plus in my home. I like that I was able to crush even the larger chunks of ice with no problem. I wasn't able to do that with the other blenders.
I have seen the KitchenAid online for around 70 dollars, but I needed it pretty quickly and so I bought it locally for 83.00. The extra money was worth it to me.
Other blenders that I've used before were dishwasher safe, but didn't seem to get as clean as I would like without hand-washing. This blender was very clean, after even the shortest wash cycle. Additionally, I am impressed by how durable it seems. I can be all thumbs at times and so this blender has been dropped twice so far and still works great. After being beat up a bit it has no defects; nor have I noticed any changes in its performance. Of course, I also assume that not everyone will be as lucky, even if they are as tough on appliances as I seem to be.
I do rather wish that this model had blades that could be removed. If you choose to wash your new blender by hand, and something messy was made in it previously, it can be awkward to get it all clean.
That is the only factor that makes me give this item just four stars, but I have been very pleased with it so far. I would absolutely buy it again, and I plan to give it as a gift at the next wedding shower I attend.
