Dremel Tool 75th Anniversary Series Rotary Tool Kit

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

First introduced on the market in 1945, the little tool has been "re-tooled" and brought up to date many times until today it is a gem to own. The Dremel was purchased at Home Depot about 3 years ago, for about $65. Black and Decker makes a less expensive tool for $31 and Proxxon makes a more expensive version for $109. Dremel manufactures a solid device, well built with precision fittings. The housing is black high-impact plastic, with a hard rubber piece jointed near the front, stainless steel trim and black cord. It looks like a serious machine. Known for its versatility, it has an array of attachments, some of which come with the original purchase, while others may be added as needed. Currently being using for jewelry making, for this owner, it has all the sanding, buffing and cleaning attachments. The design fits easily to hand, is lightweight and no strain to use. The material being treated determines the ease of use, but with persistence, the Dremel usually gets the upper hand. The small tool functions as intended, and is particularly suitable for making jewelry as the attachments are sized for tight areas. Being manufactured according to strict standards, the Dremel is reliable, safe and performs every time it's called upon for the tough, yet delicate jewelry-making processes. It has always served its purpose safely, and can be counted on for its durability and practical applications. Because it is so well suited to the use to which it is put, the rotary tool never fails to accomplish its task. It has been used steadily for three years and performs as well today, perhaps better, than when first purchased. Keeping it clean will ensure owners of many years of use. As long as the tool is used within its limitations, there are no negative comments.
