Cuisinart DFP-14BC 14 Cup Food Processor

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

Overall, I am very happy with this model. I am admittedly a huge fan of Cuisinart and I actually bought this model to replace one I'd inherited from my mother-in-law. That processer lasted for over 20 years and still did a great job. However, the motor did eventually give out and so I bought the newest model.

First of all, I was really excited to discover that the attachments for my old processor worked on the new one. It's been my experience that many companies will change up their accessories to force people to buy the newer model. I'm glad to see that Cuisinart continues to offer complimentary parts that work on old and new models alike.

Once I got it plugged in and tried it out, I started with ice. I was pleased to find that the motor was actually even stronger than the motor on my last processor. I've now used this for various purposes, including making bread dough, and have never had a problem. It works quickly and efficiently.

I also really liked that they offer this model in stainless steel. All of my appliances are stainless steel and I didn't particularly enjoy the fact that my old processor was white. The new, shiny look makes it fit right in and look really high end.

There is one problem and that's the safety mechanisms. I'm a little torn on this, because I do have two small children in the house and of course want to ensure that my appliances are safe to be used around them. However, you really have to ensure that everything is lined up 100% correctly or it won't start. I'm not still not used to this aspect and so I'm constantly trying to start it and finding that it won't start.

As far as the price goes, I felt it was very affordable compared to other similar models. I anticipate that it will last me 20 years that my mother-in-laws lasted, so with that in mind it's really quite underpriced.
