ViewSonic VFM1530-11 High Resolution Multimedia Digital Photo Frame
Rating: 2 out of 5
Currently 2.0/5.0
The ViewSonic VFM1530-11 High Resolution Multimedia Digital Photo Frame is one in a newly emerging brand of electronic device. New in 2010, this product retails for around $269, and at this price can be as much as twice as similar products released by other brands and companies.
The ViewSonic VFM features a 15-inch multimedia digital resolution screen, as well as an internal memory of up to 256 mb. This frame features additional accessories, such as a calendar and a digital or analog clock, and supports file types including SD, SDHC, MMC, MS and CF.
While the calendar and clock or nice, a frame that high above the normal competition should be increased in memory or feature other rare options, and the VFM simply does not. While it does offer a high picture resolution of 1,024X768, it does not do much that cheaper frames cannot. The screen also suffers from difficult viewing angles, as an eReader or touch phone might, and you must find a certain angle to see the photograph as intended.
Capabilities including video playing, photo slide shows with MP3 music songs, and 4:3 ratio viewing. The VFM1530-11 also allows you to import using a standard USB 2.0 port, and includes a convenient remote control. The frame itself is 16.8 by 14.3 inches and is heavy at 7.5 pounds. It works much like an iPod screen with its simple menus, and allows you to navigate with your fingers on the easy to use touch screen.
Both fun and bright, the frame is enjoying a time period that features limited competition, which is keeping the price high and the object selling. Once similar products are released, the price is likely to go down, and it will probably hover just over the prices of similar objects released with slightly less refined and defined capabilities.
