I bought the Black & Decker X300 Quick N' Easy Iron five years ago when it was still fairly new on the market for $25.99. I didn't really need an iron that came with all kinds of bells and whistles because I didn't really iron that much. But when I needed to, I still needed it to do a very good job and so, I needed an iron that would be able to do a basic, but good, job. And now this iron has proven to be much better than I even expected, and I take the time to iron much more now!
This iron, like most on the market these days, does come with a steam chamber to use on those stubborn wrinkles, or to make those sharp creases in your pants. But this iron takes the idea of steaming your clothes one step further with the unique dial. This dial tells you which levels are appropriate for dry ironing, and which you'll need for steam ironing. If that's not enough for you, underneath the easy-grip handle there's also a dry/steam chart that will show you what's best used, and when.
There was one feature I was looking for in the iron when I bought it, and that was a plate that would not easily rust or become dirty. I've worked with too many irons that leave black marks on clothes just because the plate is dirty. But this Black & Decker iron takes care of that in two different ways. The first is the automatic self-cleaning option that will keep the iron free of dust and dirt, and the aluminum plate, which will stand up to rust. And as an added bonus, because aluminum is so light, this iron will also move across any piece of clothing easily and smoothly.
I was just looking for a basic iron that I could pull out on the few occasions that I needed it. But the Black & Decker X300 Quick N' Easy Iron has proven to be so much more than I expected, and I'm still using it five years later. It hasn't shown any signs of slowing down, or rusting, yet!
