Last summer I purchased an Oster Professional Series Blender. I had decided to begin making homemade soups and smoothies and wanted something with a bit more power than the standard blender. I was not disappointed with the Oster. It is without question the most powerful blender I have ever used. These days, the typical blender tends to have numerous speeds, electronic gizmos, etc. The Oster is nothing like that. It has a total of two speeds and there is not a blinking light to be seen on its attractive exterior. The Oster is designted with a retro look, and its black and silver trim should fit in nicely on most countertops. But this blender's main claim to glory is in its performance. Since I have purchased my Oster, I have used it for everything from crushing ice to basic food processing tasks such as finely chopping nuts. (Although advertised as a blender, the Oster really performs many of the tasks of a food processor as well.) This blender is fast! It is very easy to operate. You simply select whether to blend or pulse your ingredients and, with a simple flick of the switch, voila! Other features include a 5-cup glass jar, an ice crusher blade, a feeder cap in the lid, and a motor with an all-metal drive system, for greater power and durability. So far, my Oster has risen to the occasion each time I have used it. I'm not even a daily user, so time will tell how durable it really is. For now, I have found it to be powerful, attractive, and simple to use and to clean. The only minus I can think of is a very loud motor -- but the Oster is so fast, you don't have to listen to it for very long. I highly recommend the Oster Profesional Series Blender.
