Do you take snapshots of yourself (selfies) and put them on social media or send them to friends? What do you like about taking a selfie from the standpoint of helping to make a statement about yourself? How often do you do it?

No!

I have better things to do. I also don't have anything to do with Facebook and the like! (gasp!)

I only do that when I need a new profile photo someplace (for OLD or at a forum).
For the most part, I don't post or send pics of myself otherwise-
my only statement would be "current photo of me, taken this year/month".
If I look the same today as I did yesterday or whenever, then I see no reason to take more pics.

Those who are selfie obsessed tend to be of the insecure type who lack self confidence.

I take selfies if I think I look good that day. I don't deliberately put it on social media and say hey everyone give me compliments. But I will often use it to update my profile pic on FB.

You may not publically say it but that's exactly what you're looking for or else you would not do it.

Not saying its a good or bad thing. I'm not trying to judge you, but if you deliberately update your profile pic because you feel you "look good that day", then what you want is compliments and praise.

OK I didn't word it right. I take a pic of myself if I think I look good that moment. Then it's on my phone. Then maybe days later, I might use that picture to update my profile pic if I'm tired of the current one.

But yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I do love compliments, who doesn't?

Ha! The "selfie" goes back even farther than this current slefie craze.

It first happened in the movie "Thelma & Louise" .. was watching it this weekend and voila! they took selfies between themselves!!!

Selfies are pointless and vain unless you have something or someone in the background to complement, supplement, or even supersede you. But they can be interesting if you are not the only thing meant to get attention. They're really just another way of taking a photo, so they're the same as most photos in this regard.

Nothing more irritating than people so obsessed w/ themselves,
so narcissistic, so pathetically desperate for attention that they
feel the need to whip out the camera & take pics of themselves constantly.
I'm so glad I never got into Fakebook
I get asked constantly IRL by guys who I meet.....
they inevitably want me to send them pics.
When I tell them I don't take "selfies"
they can hardly believe that.
Oh well......
