There seems to be a name for it: synesthesia. That link above provides a test to see if you have it.
I think I used to do that when I was a kid because Saturday was pink. Wednesday was green. Friday was sort of brown and Sunday was yellow. (If you were a girl and had a different color underpants for each day of the week, maybe that's where some of us got the idea.)
I'm amazed that this thread got to post #30 before somebody came up with the proper clinical term for the condition! Thank you, in_newengland! It is a fairly well-documented phenomenon, and it isn't pathological, but apparently only about 4.4 percent of the population experience it to some degree. Many artists do. It is a brain anomaly where (in my layman's terms) the "color" area of the brain is very close to the "numbers, letters, and days of the week" area, so there are crossover impressions. Some people also see colors when they hear music. Frequently people experience it strongly when they're kids, and then it fades.
I used to see vibrant colors associated with the days of the week, and I can still "feel" the colors:
Monday: definitely blue, like a nice rich blue sky right after sunset. Cobalt, for you painters.
Tuesday: Bright, cheerful yellow
Wednesday: Sort of maroon, like burnt sienna.
Thursday: Also brown, but more like burnt umber.
Friday: Very, very pale grayish blue, almost white
Saturday: A paler blue than straight cobalt, but not as pale as Friday. Ultramarine mixed with white, I guess. Sometimes I also saw Saturday as green.
Sunday: A deep, wonderful red, but more of an orange red than blue-ish red.
I used to have some color associations with letters of the alphabet, but never numbers.

People are colors, too. Here's an example.
If you are predominately yellow, and your brother is predominately white, then you become a pale yellow when you are together.
If you aren't in contact, you may not be able to get in touch with your pale yellowness...
Some of us really do see things this way. I love it.
I kind of wish I still had it, although back when I was a kid I thought it was weird. Yes, I'm artistically inclined so maybe that's why I used to get certain feelings for colors. It's definitely not about Monday=work=dark or Saturday=fun=yellow and sunny. It's not something you think about, it's something that just "is".
It's about feelings that you get from colors. (I think) I can't do it anymore, it's a lost art, lol.
I also get feelings about punctuation and grammar but that must be another anomaly.
Such fun to read this thread! Glad it caught my eye in the "Active Threads" box.
I'm fascinated by the notion that people can have/be colors, and they can be mixed. I've never experienced that. You're very fortunate, Marachino!
