I've recently been told by someone that I used to be close friends with some things, and it used to be a time where I got upset or express disappointment, but my response has been just the word "ok" and nothing more. Her wondering why I have nothing else to say about it indicates to me that it bothers her that I am no longer moved by things she says or does anymore. I have heard of this stuff happening with others too in general, which I have always found confusing. Why does it bother some people when things they do no longer 'moves' or 'upsets' them. Why is not feeling anything at all worse than being pissed about something?
Probably some people interpret the "not feeling anything" behavior as not caring, coldness, being disinterested or disconnected. However, the same behavior could in reality be cool detachment, deep thought before replying, or consideration for another's troubled feelings by respectful silence.
