^^^ see that is how people describe me. I've been told (PM'd on CD ) that I am the nicest person. Have a very low tolerance for BS though.
Am focused and detail oriented like a bassett looking for blood. When on safari, I found more animals than the tracker. A couple in our rover said they felt like they should tip me instead of him. If there's a lizard, bug etc within 20 ft of me, I'll find it.
Funny I looked into getting a PHD. Didn't want to do all the stat classes for my degree so I decided against it.
You sound okay to me foundapeanut. You sound like me. I was always up for science no matter how hard it got. I took the stat classes. I got the BS(EE). I wanted to design electronics and I got it. I was there when the Apple II and IBM PC were invented. I began writing software many years before (actually in high school before even the nerds heard of computers, during summer school I wrote for a Xerox SDS 910/920 in assembly language, had to leave for camping and never found out if my programs would have run). Wrote my first working program in my frosh years in FORTRAN IV. Hah, I wrote a program to track girls I met cruising the main drag! I must have been the first guy ever to use computers to automate chasing women! Truth! Perhaps 1965/1966? Um... It didn't help. You can't automate meeting women, at least not then!
I think actually Bassets are bloodhounds, renowned for their sense of smell, maybe 100,000x that of humans!
We all get dealt our hand of cards in life. You have to pick how you play them yourself. How are you going to play yours?
You have sufficient personal skills that I doubt you are autistic. You wouldn't connect to my posts if you were, unless only to a very minor degree. Same for Asperger's. You're in the game, maybe dealt a slightly unusual hand.
You still have to decide how to play it. You may be off by one, but that's not much when the game is infinite. Infinity minus one still equals infinity.
Asperger's and autism both seem to manifest as limited interaction with other people and instead focused within. Anybody with either condition or related conditions who have good interactions with people are high functioning by definition, and may not be any problem at all depending on how you define what constitutes a problem.
My reading indicates that people with Asperger's particularly high functioning seem to be unusually happy people. My friend with Asperger's seemed like that, friendly, happy, designing websites!
Sometimes a problem is not a problem, it's just one of the manifestations of any person's individuality.
Truth be known, I entered said contest mere minutes after my previous post. But in reality I'm not going to change my posting behavior.
This forum is damned more interesting than TV and I don't feel like working on my short story. Typing and writing are related, right?
Actually the way the contest is designed it appears to me that posting for posting sake alone would be counter-productive. It's not the number of posts you silly wabbit, it's the quality of posts! And I make the effort to go over the top quality wise maybe at least 10% of my posts. Admittedly this isn't one of them!

Aspergers strikes me another made up condition, a fancy polite medical term for being human.
Being shy is not an illness.
But a lot of shy people are actually arrogant, its a mask.

He laughed out loud and told me all these terms are what they use for insurance purposes.
Everyone is a mix of varying degrees of being human, when we lose balance , if it affects work , then it becomes a problem. They assign a label which might be the closest fit, the label (diagnosis) is for the insurance company, not necessarily for treatment.
UNless a person has a bona fide organic based condition (there are very few),
they have a problem concerning their will.
There is absolutely no chemical that can touch the will without subverting consciousness, like sodium penathol.
