i had been a stay at home mom for years and in a marriage that was falling apart and depressed and it was a very bleak period of my life. we found out a piece of land we owned in another state that we had bought hoping to one day build on it, had a well report that had been falsified so we not only could not build on it, we also could not sell it. We hired an attorney to see if any action could be taken, and the law office asked me to send them the documents we had. I put together the documents, with a narrative, timeline, index. The lawyer called and asked who prepared the packet, and I told him I did. He offered me a job on the spot to work at the law firm. That really made me feel good, at a very low point in my life. It still makes me feel good 27 years later.
Being told that our boys are so nice and polite. (manners were/are a MUST in our house) When they were young, I had to teach a few of their friends how to ask nicely for something, and to say thank you. What's wrong with parents? It's their JOB.
Being told by my daughter in law that I have taught her so much and that she wouldn't know what to do without me. We have never had words in the 13 years that our son and her have been together.
Mine was a compliment from an older gentlemen on the Spectrum who lived at one of the nursing homes I worked at. He stepped in front of me and pointed his finger at me and said excitedly "you know who you look like? That lady in Dr. Zhivago!" Incredulous, I said, "you mean Julie Christie?" and he said "That's her!".
For the record, I look nothing like Julie Christie from Dr. Zhivago (for youngsters, she was drop dead beautiful in that movie) but I consider it my favorite compliment ever, lol.

OMG, yes...she's a goddess!
What is Spectrum?

Oh man, that IS some compliment!
Something like 25 yrs ago, also, I had the exact same thing...but at a doctor's office...he called
me to his building for a sitdown of compliments for me!
Within 4 months he committed suicide...so did it really count? Kidding...
When I played soccer in sophomore year I was a fullback, usually. In October 1972 the coach said, Jim, "go in as left forward," when we were playing New Rochelle. I looked at him like he had horns. He pointed to an opposing team player and said "he's roughing up our players." He wanted me to cleat him, I suspect.
Instead, I quickly scored a goal. My first and only.
