Exercise/body building is good. But, you can't just replace one addition with another or you will eventually fail, because at some point you will get old, or exercise will become painful, and you'll go right back to the bottle.
You need balance in life. BALANCE. I wish I could shout it. I know how alcoholics are--they are stubborn and often refuse to listen to sound advice.
You need to talk to someone about the underlying psychological issues that make you want to drink.
Unless you solve the underlying issues you will stay in deep denial and it will come back.
Things happened in your past to make you reject reality, opting for a self-induced intoxicating alternate reality.
You must reconnect with reality, life on life's terms, and that involves introspection, adjustment, and learning about yourself.
Not everyone who drinks is an alcoholic. That's for you to decide. It is how you drink that makes the difference not how much or how often or where or with whom or because of what.
I'm a man so I can't say for sure what women really think, but somehow I can't imagine that being in good physical shape wouldn't help, and who wants a fat lover? Me and my favorite woman both work out at the same gym, sometimes even together for yoga or Zumba classes, and I think that is totally great!
