Look at all the abused animals that go on to trust a human again. Animals can be very forgiving. Probably more than humans.

i developed through adolescence to become more forgiving. good for me. i am not touting that i am somehow self righteous or perfect because i can easily forgive slights and commom human fallibility

Honestly, I think it's going to depend a lot on upbringing, cultural norms and expectations. In certain circles, I have to be very careful about how things are communicated or it will be taken as an affront to never be forgiven. In others, there's practically nothing that cannot be forgiven at some point.
