The reality is this: Some hurts will always be a part of you. And while they don’t have to define you, they remain a daily reminder of the unforeseen challenges that come your way.
This is an extremely interesting on grief, pain and suffering. And, what some remedies that individuals can apply to help themselves and others.

When a person has a heroic moment...to that extent it does define them. Their character anyways....and they take from that a new sense of confidence or humility. So in that way, it does define them.
So to with a negative scenario, it does define a person, A survivor of a holocaust, the survivor of a tradegy. They carry the legacy.
