Hi,
My husband and I are moving to Punta Gorda in September. We're renting a place off of a family member whose opinions are (at times) skewed- we'd love some input from locals. I've read statistics on the area etc.., but would like to know more about it from people who know the area. Any advice/input/information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Default What advice are you looking for?

You've already picked it, decided to move, found a place to live. What's left?

I am in Punta Gorda. It's a quaint little town. The streets roll up around 9pm though. You aren't far from Ft. Myers or Sarasota which has more of a night life. There are homes priced from the $100's to the $1,000,000's.
People are nice, there are nice restaurants and lots of shopping in Pt. Charlotte just over the bridge. If you like fishing, the harbor is right here!
If you need any more info email me!

Default Thanks!

Thanks Phf919 and Bamboosmom! We're very excited about the move and were glad to hear positive things about the area. I've looked up pictures online and the Harbor looks gorgeous. From what I gather, it seems like a very relaxed town...just what we're looking for

Welcome! If you like boating, sun and history, Punta Gorda is great. There is also a large horse population. I have been here 2 years and am selling my home and building a new one. We like to boat, but want to live on the same property as our 2 horses and 6 cows. Its a great place for my family. Hope you enjoy your new hometown.

Port Charlotte is probably the best deal in SW Fla.

There's a great ( yes, Great ) Japanese restaurant in Punta Gorda

Punta Gorda is a very nice area......I have a brother that lives there part of the time.....he likes it very much.....that area was hit pretty bad during the hurrican season.....then again anywhere you go in Florida you are taking a chance.
Good fishing area and not far from the Fort Meyers airport.
Good luck to all that consider moving there.

Our house should be finished in P.G. within the next 6 months so we'll be moving there too !!! Where abouts in P.G. are you going to be ?? We're building on Burnt Store Road way down near the Cape Coral/Lee County line. We can't wait to make the move !!!

If you are going to live in Southwest Florida Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte are good areas to live in. I live 20 miles south and work in the Punta Gorda area alot. Just be ready for the terrible drivers down here.
