So sorry to read about your mother-in-law, SoFLGal-I also have nothing but the highest praise for Tidewell Hospice. My dad spent his last days at Tidewell in Sarasota and he was thrilled to 'go out in style'.

Well, I have to go against the posts. I recently (October) had a total knee replacement at Peace River. Dr. Reiss did the surgery and it was an acceptable experience. He is great. During the hospital stay (4 days), I found the nursing staff and rehab techs very caring. The only bad experience was from my own GP Doctor who was rude to the rehab tech working with me. I had heard a lot of bad things about Peace River and was concerned about the stay but had nothing bad result from the procedure. Maybe I was lucky, but would consider Peace River again.

Glad to hear good reports of Tidewell -Mrs S started work there yesterday. she is full of praise for the way they value their staff and emphasize the importance of the patients.

she is trying to get me to become a volunteer visitor - to spend time with those in their final days who have no one to sit and talk to them. apparently many are veterans. how sad is that
