Welcome, I'm a "newbie" also; we moved here in June. I didn't know it was called a "swale," back home in NC they call them ditches. I don't know about weeds but I have HUNDREDS of tadpoles swimming around in 2 inches of water. I am going to be invaded by frogs when they mature. My worst nightmare is my home being covered by frogs! To paste a picture on here just click on the paperclip thingy in the top margin when you are responding to a post.

FL2HI, I hope you learn to love weeds! Its cheaper!
One way is to buy a goat - they'll eat weeds.
Killing weeds is tough - so many different kinds! I would cut a big piece and take it to a nursery and ask what to use to kill it without killing your grass. Someone at HD may know what they are looking at, but I wouldn't count on it.

Good Luck!

Do you know what you call a goat in Fl. ? Gator food. lol Ok not so funny but please do not use goats near the water to eat weeds. They are starting to use goats in Cali to clean the brush off near the major highways seems to be working and it is not cheap.

I'm getting an estimate for renting some goat to clear an area of my property in Maryland...no gators or other predators to worry about. In Florida I'm glad to have some weeds in my yard. From a distance it looks like I have a green lawn. Up close, you'll see very little grass but at least what I do have is green (not the tree-hugger type of "green" but the actual color)!
