We have been planning a move to the area now for about three years. Both of us are "young" retirees, whatever that means. That's what some people say, so we might just as well milk that for as long as we can.
Our home here in the frozen tundra of Minnesota sold in two days. That is a relief!
What is the best source of pontoon shopping in the North Port area? Any sources to shy away from? We expect to make the move there in April.
Thanks for your help!

Craigslist is a quick way. There are several consignment lots as well. There is a lot at the El Jobean bridge, as well as on Bayshore in Port Charlotte just north of 41. Avoid Charlotte RV and Marine. Overpriced.

I ran across a good pontoon boat at $6500 on Craigslist the other day, so reasonably priced boats are readily available.

IMHO Dont be in a hurry.. There must be 10,000 boats ( Or More) for sale down here. Its Obvious that for sale by owner will cost you less than consignment or a boat dealer. I bought my power boat a about 18 months ago for about $5000 less than I see them selling for today.. Look and Look and Look some more.. There are some great deals and some terrible ones as well.

Someone told us a while back that the best time to look for used boats was at the end of the snowbird season. The reason was that as snowbirds are getting ready to head back up north, storing or deciding what to do with their boats is something else they have to do. Some of them are at the point where they want to sell the boat and not have to mess with it anymore.

Great thoughts everyone. I am in no hurry, so hopefully that puts me in the drivers (Captains) seat.

Lot more product seems to be on the market though (at least on craiglist, where I've been looking regularly for the past year or so). Just make an offseason offer! Worst that can happen is they say no.

I almost always buy seasonally-oriented sporting goods gear this way--winter stuff in the middle of summer, and vice versa.

I would have been looking all winter in Minnesota!.......cleaner boats and cash in hand for a boat you can't use for the next 6 months is probably a easy decision for folks up there!

I just talked this morning with my New Neighbor from Bar Harbor Maine, he mentioned in passing that he has bought a boat or was it a couple of boats, down here and took them home because boats are so expensive in Maine. This one is a 232 Gradey White WA . So I guess it depends where your from..
