We're going to be house sitting for a couple months this summer at a friends house in the Placida area. For us to be able to do this, my wife has to have a good, reliable, highspeed internet and phone.

I'm looking at Xfinity. Can folks please advise if that's the best choice in the area?

I live in Placida, on Palm Island and use Comcast/Xfinity and have no problems.

Thank you Ma'am. So I take it that it doesn't drop constantly as I've seen reported in other threads.

Could you elaborate on your reasonings? I've had SoFlGals reply and a couple of others away from the
forum and yours was the first negative other than a couple of other posts on different forums, but again they didn't say why.

Haha MrSunshine. I think I'm pretty limited out here on the island. Actually, I think Comcast is the only option--well, other than carrier pigeon.

I don't really have much problem with it other than it's pretty pricey. I have the TV/Internet deal. I have Verizon for cell and I don't have a home phone.

Our main concern is availability. We currently have 25Mbps up and down and it suits my wifes work needs. We also have to have a landline. Requirements of her job. So I thought if we did the package for 90/mo for 105Mbps internet, unlimited phone and tv we'd be ok. But if it's up and down like a yo-yo then we have a problem.

I've never had a problem with it. I think people usually have a problem with the price. I'm not sure exactly what my package is, as far as the size, but it works fine for what I do. I send and receive a lot of documents, etc. I did have the home phone for the fax but I really don't need that. I just scan my docs and email them.

Yes, their customer service is horrid, but aren't they all? Lesser of all evils? My Xfinity internet is around $29/mo and works just fine. It had been losing connection at least 1x per day a while back, but I realized it was just my old router. I got a new one and since then it hasn't disconnected once. My house is wired for Fios, so when Comcast increases the cost again, I'll likely check that out. Good luck 03!
