Yes, just be neighborly and don't have a fire when the wind is blowing directly at the neighbors house when they have the windows open. And try not to burn pine. That stuff burns hot, flies up in the air and lands on everything around, usually making tiny burn marks on patios, boats, vehicles, etc...

Our neighbor burned something in their fire pit and our entire pool was filled with ashes. We do not have a cage on our pool. It took a long time to scoop it all out and ashes were all over my patio furniture. So, just be careful what you are burning and where the smoke and debris goes.

I couldn't find specifics of fire pits, but they sell them in the area and many people use them in their backyard. Some people build their own fire pits too.

I'm really surprised the allow it! I checked and see that Sarasota County doesn't - at least, it seems without a special event permit. Interesting.

Since one of the requirements is that the fire must be a minimum of 150 feet from an occupied dwelling other than your own house it would seem that in most places it would not be legal.

However as with anything else if you use common sense and follow the guidelines others have outlined above you won't have any problems.

Or just call it a barbecue.

We have found the propane fire pit to do a good, clean job on the chilly nights.

My issue isnt as much with the fires themselevs than the people hanging out around them.. Late at night obviously excessive drinking loud offensive language and music.. until 11 12 at night or 1 2 3 4 in the morning..

No noise ordinances down there? Or don't the cops respond to noise complaints? Or both?
