My daughter bought a really well made one, and it has a great motor for filling and deflating (no Patriot jokes needed). Its a queen size, and it is comfortable, with a felt / cloth cover, so it holds the sheets on very well, and it is very comfortable. When guests arrive they fill it quickly, and deflate it in the morning. And, they usually choose to sleep on it and let others use their bed.

Don't get me wrong Patriot Jokes are welcome and encouraged!!! I just don't want to hijack the tread!! ;-) Bad Patriots!!! Bad!!!! Bad!!! Bad! .... Now I feel {a tiny bit better} - thanks.

We have a cheap metal framed futon in her exercise room. Normally it is folded into a couch but if we have company it lays flat into a relatively comfortable queen bed in seconds. Got it on CL for $40 with the upgraded down mattress, but can be bought new for around $100 from places like biglots with the reg mattress. Great for kids or couples as it will sleep two no problem. It doesn't completely fold up like a rollaway but sometimes it's nice to have a couch in there anyway.

We also have quite a few tall queen inflatables. Most get leaks quickly and need to be pumped up often. Some of the more expensive ones that we use camping do last a while though. I'd recommend one with a separate pump. It seems the ones with the pump built in always leak around the pump.

I had forgotten about futons. That would be perfect for our bonus room since it would do double duty as a sofa.

They make some nice wood ones now that don't look like they belong in a trashy bachelor pad . More like a NY apartment chic look .

I did some quick googling and also found wicker and rattan futons - nice beachy look.
