When I moved back here in 2011 I was told, "don't move to Fla, unless you have money or a job waiting." And when I got here there were half finished homes abandoned, tower cranes on unfinished buildings like some post apocalyptic world abandoned. Strip malls half finished with now broken windows and no roofs. Now not only have all those projects been finished but the building here is rampped back up. New homes are popping up every where and the people are here as well. When I moved back in 11 you could take your pick of restaurant and have it mostly to yourself. Now in winter forget it. Even now I went to blind pass for the fireworks. I thought it would be a not so crowded. Forget that. I pulled in and could barely get out. Its gotten crazy again. I plan to move out in the next year or so. My investments in property have done very well. Over doubled. But the quality of life here for me is getting worse. Its so hot and miserable in summer and then winters are nice yes but too many people vying for too little space and things. Some people may like the crowds, I personally don't Too many other places that are nice without the pushing and shoving.

You nailed it -- 100% agree. Worst thing I ever did was move to Florida (Port Charlotte). My new home is built and I'm gone forever in 3 more weeks.

Don't think this area of Florida represents all of Florida. Far from it. Move to a more happening area of Florida that does not have so many snowbirds. Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando, etc. Grew up in Orlando and Miami. Did not see a influx of snowbirds or notice a difference in traffic for a season unless a special event in town. West Palm, Naples,Fort Myers, St.Pete (changing), Sarasota. etc. yes you will probably see that issue. Enjoy another part of the USA.

Yep, adios and good luck!! We still love it, especially in the summer!

Regarding the fireworks, DUH! Did you really think there would only be a couple dozen cars at the EPICENTER of the fireworks show? There are still thousands of people living here in the summer time, plus vacationers. So it's not the ghost town some folks think it is. Sorry if it's different than in '11, but it's called progress and there's not a darn thing anyone can do about it. I hear Clewiston & Wauchula are still pretty quiet... maybe the small inland towns will better suit your needs?
