my bichon has been gone 2 years, I still miss him and always will. wrote this for him:

13 Years

13 years, where did the time go
got you as a pup and watched you grow

a zooming bundle of pretty white fluff
tore thru the house and ate all my stuff

then middle age, you started to mellow
everyone said what a handsome fellow

such a good friend, for so many years
and when you got sick mom fought back the tears

we said goodbye, just you and I
held you and petted you, tried not to cry

now gone 2 years, my handsome boy
and I still have your favorite toy

13 years, we were so blessed
to have you that long, you were the best

That was so beautiful. I'm sure many of us recognized our own history with one or more of our special friends in your words. Made me cry buckets. You have a wonderful tribute there for your precious boy. Print it, frame it and keep it nearby. And thank you for sharing it with us.
