I'm watching the news and here comes a story, complete with interview, with Crystal Mangum, the piece of trash that FALSLEY accused the Duke lacrosse players of rape. Not only does this sorry excuse for a human being belong in jail for making false accusations, but she's then thrown in jail for threatening to kill her baby daddy. And WTVD sends a camera and reporter out there to give her prime air time to cry about how she's a victim??? I am so done with the local news around here.

It all comes down to ratings.

I have to agree with you on local news. I have been in the TV business for over 20 years,
and without a doubt, I consider local news to be the evillest of necessary evils. You have to
understand that in general, all but the smallest communities make for slow news days. Unless
you consider wrecks and fires as news. EVERY dollar they make comes from how high their ratings are.
If you want to charge a lot for a 30 second spot in your news, you have to have high ratings. Other-
wise, it's hard to even give it away. TV is EXPENSIVE to do. You can see the dilemma.

As for my personal feelings about this stripper turned whiner, my skin crawls just thinking
about this after all this time. I didn't need to hear it was news, that's for sure. But I do not
hate that you posted it. Just thinking it's possible that it is news again. There was a time
when you would not have heard from her again, period. But those days were not good for anyone.
Let's just hope this disappears. And for what it's worth if you don't write a letter of complaint,
no one learns anything.

Oh trust me, they got a letter (e-mail) of complaint from me! I hope others will do the same!

Emails are good, but a letter to the station manager or news director is the only way that
forces them to "get it". Not to diminish anything you did, you did the right thing, but if you
really want to be heard, write an actual letter. It will have to go into the "public file". You
only need to address it to Station Manger, W-whatever, street, city, state zip.

Wow, I saw a description of what she was saying and she really does seem to have mental problems.

Hey, it was either that or an interview with a local resident who once lived in the same neighborhood in NJ as one of those Russian spies.
