I second Sidestreet Cafe!

Also, Seaboard Cafe inside Logan's Trading Company is a great lunch spot. Welcome to Seaboard Cafe!

Casalinga Ristorante Italiano on Capitol Blvd. has a fantastic buffet lunch for $8.95! Welcome to the Frontpage

La Cocina de Mama Greta on N. Market drive (behind the Red Lobster) is wonderful. It's a hidden gem. They serve Salvadoran food - it's so good, and very low priced. I've only been there for dinner, but I imagine lunch is an even better deal.

Thai House on Hardimont Rd and Bland Rd in N Raleigh.

Went to the reincarnated Rockford last night for dinner and thought it was still pretty darn good.

Sunflowers
The Pit
Dos Taquitos Centro (get the steak tacos)
Sawasdee on Capital (Thai -- very very good)
If you are in North Raleigh -- I recommend Poppyseed Market off of Leadmine.

Lots of good suggestions on this thread. I'd also like to throw out Oakwood Cafe on Person/Edenton - great Cuban sandwiches - as well as Sadlack's Heroes and Laziz Biryani Corner (Indo-Pakastani) on Hillsborough Street.

I love Justin's Grill, on the corner of Wake Forest and Millbrook - its a small place in between the gas station and the strip mall. They have the BEST gyros around.

I also enjoy Jason's Deli at the corner of Spring Forest and Falls. I don't know if they are locally owned or not.

Oh! And I almost forgot Stromboli's - the pizza is decent, but the salads and pastas are fantastic!

Another vote for Sidestreet. I've been eating there for years. Locally owned. Last fall the owner thanked her customers with a Sunday afternoon lunch outside beside the restaurant. Lots of delicious food!
