but still close to Six Forks office buildings? (near chick-fil-a, k-mart, borders shopping center)

We are trying to find a place in North Raleigh to rent, but want to avoid as much traffic and congestion as possible. We have 2 under 2 and we need to be within about 10 minutes of the shopping center I mentioned (I have no idea what it's called).

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks a bunch!

Not sure if that is possible. North Raleigh is to congestion as Whole Foods is to Organics. It seems to be the rule--not the exception?

That's what I was afraid of. Someone suggested Brookefield Apartments, but another friend told me they are in a busy area.

We used to live near Lake Johnson, and enjoyed the fact that that area was relatively quiet.

Six Forks Station are right in the thick of things but if you can rent an apt. that is in the middle of the complex, it feels very woodsy.

North Raleigh = traffic

You will need to drive it first hand to experience it and decide how much you can take.

This is a great suggestion. Living here, you could walk to the shopping center, which has restaurants, movies, cleaners, groceries, hardware, K-Mart, etc... The complex has a huge range of floorplans and the amenities are good. We lived in a townhouse there in the late-80's while our house was being built and it was nice, quiet and family friendly. We even had a screened porch and backed up to the woods!

I wouldn't call the Celebration area congested. North Hills area, Five Points, Anything around Capital Blvd and Glenwood, I'd call congested, but Six Forks north of 440 tends to be pretty easy going once you get a couple miles north of North Hills - Six Forks isn't a main artery like Falls, Glenwood, or Capital, so it gets a lot less traffic.

Huh? As one who's taken it daily for over a decade, I beg to differ.

Try the apartments of Stonehenge or the Cottages at Stonehenge off of Creedmoor Road. The Cottages at Stonehenge are privately owned, but there are some for rent in there. They have a yard area, a playground for kids and no traffic. The area is extremely convenient.
The Stonehenge apartments are also set apart from busy roads and are quiet. Both are very, very safe neighborhoods with playgrounds and pools.
best,
toodie

Default Thanks everyone

I really appreciate everyone's insight and advice. My husband is deployed until October, so the apartment search has been that much more difficult.

I knew I could count on the city-data experts!
