The Morrisville DQ is awesome!

Really wish we had a Friendly's in the area though. The closest is near Fayetteville.

Agreed! While a friend introduced me to Blizzards a few years ago, I still like my childhood favorite of a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate. Hmmm, that first bite !

Maybe not in Chapel Hill, but NC has had Dairy Queens for a long time. And perhaps moreso that that, Tastee-Freez! Maybe they were more prevalent in Eastern NC. I wonder how many of them are still around...

There are tons of DQs at NC beaches.

Ooohh...I remember Tastee Freez too! And then it was Dairy Castle or something like that! The one on Western next to Fred's beds is a check cashing/money transfer place now or something, but still the original building!

Why aren't there more Dairy Queens, you ask?

I think it's because when people think "ice cream," most people in the area think Goodberry's custard ice cream.

I had a Dairy Queen "low fat" ice cream at the beach once and became extremely ill. I think it must have been the additives -- who knows what they put in it. Goodberry's, in comparison, has been berry berry good to me.

I wasn't surprised the Dairy Queen at Triangle Town Center closed.

Newcomers may be more used to custard ice cream, maybe? Western NYers think "Abbott's Custard" when they want ice cream. There are no Dairy Queens in the Rochester area within 55 miles or so.

My mother's family lived in Goldsboro. That is where I grew to love Dairy Queen. My father used to "dress it up" for me and eat half the cone. When I started doing the same thing for my own kids I had to chuckle. It's alot easier to "dress up" Dairy Queen than regular icecream. The kid hardly can see the difference!

I can't really recommend the smoothies, but the ice cream should be OK. I've gone to other DQ's many times. We also have several other ice cream stores in that mall. You'll find Maggie Moo's and Coldstone Creamery. I don't like these places that mix your ice cream on a counter but some people are OK with that.

The Wendy's on the corner has always been there... The DQ was on the other side of the gas station. Now I think its a Dunkin Donuts. There's no way the DQ blizzards could compete with the Cook-Out milkshakes... man I miss living near one!
