Does anyone know why there are so many low flying helicopters in Cary? It seems to be a regular occurrance.

Thats just the HOA patrols doing the annual fall leaves reviews - looking for any houses with more leaves than the HOA allows.

Ft Bragg isn't terribly far away. The majority of the helicopters flying over our house are military.

Yeah, if they're military it's almost certain they're from the reserve unit at RDU. At times I have seen the various news footed hovering to look at 40 traffic too though.

Now that it is cold outside they are looking for heat signatures left by HID lights used for indoor hydroponics operations.

aka pot growers. The choppers use a FLIR camera.

Because we all know that Cary is a hotbed for Marijuana growers....

It's generally news helicopters, and occasionally military copters as well.

I am in south cary near ten ten and holly springs. I'm nowhere near the airport and not really near Fort Bragg. There's isn't much traffic near me to report on and we're nowhere near 40, so I don't know ... that pretty much leaves the pot growers. There must be some stuff going on around here that I'm not aware of, in the woods perhaps?
