Very excited to hear about a new Cuban restaurant opening up in downtown Durham. The website for the Old Havana Sandwich Shop says opening in November but their Facebook page says early January. I can't wait! Just in time for me since I will no longer be commuting back and forth from NJ.after three long years. Looking forward to being in Durham for more than one week intervals and now I'll be able to enjoy a good Cuban sandwich just like in NJ. Difficult time to start any business. I wish them well.

Default Sandwiche Cubano!

The Cuban sandwich in the picture looks delicious. I'm sure we'll be trying them out when we visit.

So, has anyone on CD went yet, and how was it? I noticed that their website is still not up and running.

I'm out of town so I haven't been there yet but they've had nice reviews on their Facebook page and on yelp.

I am originally from South Florida and very excited for a authentic cuban sandwich in NC.

However, they really shouldn't had their friends write up reviews for them on yelp. Quite obvious when all three are from users with newly created accounts and only one review each. If they are really that good positive reviews will come on their own.

Well, no way to prove that. Like I wrote earlier, good reviews on Facebook as well. As a Cuban from NJ, I'm hopeful that it will be as good or better than the reviews.
FYI...if I'm pleased after my visit, I will write my first Yelp review. If you like a place, you want to make sure they stick around.

Can't wait to hear reviews either - I once bought Cuban bread at Lowes in Cary and it was nothing at like Cuban bread. From a Cubanita from Miami and New Jersey, I need some Cuban fixes!

I want and hope the Old Havana Sandwich Shoppe is good and thrives. I miss authentic Cuban food that I had available in South Florida and NJ. There is that other Cuban place in Durham I won't mention and won't visit b/c of their pro-Castro and Che views. The only place I have found that had somewhat decent Cuban food was Oakwood Grill in Raleigh.
