I don't want to beat the drum regarding phone and cables service, but to be more direct. Does anyone use the new FIOS fiber optic service in Cary? I have read up on it, and my IT department is currently suggesting I obtain this service. Are they offering this service to all of Cary? Is it good? Thanks for the feedback.
On a side note, the relocation is now confirmed. Aug 25th we will be moving to Cary, renting at first until we sell our home in MIAMI. My wife and two girls (2yrs and 6months) are very excited. Looking forward to it.

Thanks
Alex

Default Service

I live in Cary and this service is not offered to us. I looked into this quite a bit about a month ago when I decided to switch from cable. I called Verizon and they confirmed that it was not available.

I'm still in MA and my town just got wired for FIOS a few months ago. Since we had to move into a rental house after we sold our house and we'd already had Verizon phone and DSL, it was an easy decision. I hate Comcast with a passion anyway. So we're on day 2 of FIOS triple play (internet, phone and TV) and it's great!

I've heard its unreal, as far as the DSL goes. Some say its 4 to 5 times faster than others, couldn't beleive it. What a shame that Cary doesn't have the service...
Thanks for the input

It's extremely fast. I couldn't believe it. But even more impressive is the video. We don't have HD TV but the picture on our regular TV is unbeliveable.

Default FiOS is not DSL (not even in the same league)

FiOS is not DSL, and you may be confusing people by describing it that way. FiOS is pure fiber to the home which is why the speed is blazing. DSL comes in over copper from the node.

FIOS is awesome, my friends who use it said it is the fastest connection you can get. I hope Cary gets it since we are considering moving there.

Since AT&T U-verse is offered in some parts of Cary/Raleigh, it would only stand to reason that FIOS will be coming sometime soon (I hope).

Not quite. AT&T ≠ Verizon. If FIOS comes it will be to Durham since it's a Verizon territory.

I know they aren't the same, but it opens the door for FIOS to come here if U-verse is here (both will compete with TWC). Verizon isn't going to give up even a little bit of market share.
