I wonder if we can get this stickied! Would be a great resource for all the new people moving here.

Unfortunately, forums are limited (as per the Senior Mods) to two stickied threads each, so we've already reached our maximum.

My bride volunteers at the Flower Shuttle, a great little organization ...

She recently mentioned that a new volunteer at the Shuttle was referred
by the folks at ME-3, so kudos to Amber and her group too !

Welcome to ME³ - Volunteer and Help Out Causes in Wake County, North Carolina

Raleigh used to have a section on their website for volunteers opportunities I think? The News and Observer used to periodically run a listing of ops too.

Please consider helping at a nursing home by feeding residents at meal times. Some have Parkinson's or other conditions which make it difficult for them to pick up food and feed themselves. The nursing home on Sunnybrook Rd used to allow volunteersm not sure if they still do? Also, visit residents and spend time talking with them or read from the newspaper, bible or a book.

The old stand by, Meals on Wheels always needs help.

Yes, I just started volunteering with Meals on Wheels of Durham with my young boys and we have enjoyed our time. It's a great way to get a 4 year old involved in community service! The recipients love the young company. As stated, Meals on Wheels always needs help! :: Meals On Wheels ::

For the arts, SPARKcon in Raleigh, put on by the Visual Art Exchange (VAE), is a terrific volunteer run festival in downtown Raleigh in the fall. I got involved last year and had a blast putting on the "spark" I was part of.

There is a general meeting this coming Monday at designbox.
