As long as you've kept your bill up to date with no late/missed payments you should be able to negotiate fairly easily.

this.

whenever i've called, i told them that i've been a loyal customer, paying on time & i really don't want the hassle to leave & find a new provider, but i'm not willing to pay higher rates. i usually get the same rate i've been paying or less, depending on what sort of promotional offers they have.

the annoying thing is that if you don't want phone, you are sorta SOL because all their package deals have the crappy phone service. i haven't had a landline in about 5 years & have no intention of going back to it as it wasn't worth it to me when i did have it.

They will give you a lower price, but you have to pay close attention. Twice now in the past 6 months, they've promised a lower price with no "gotchas" and then a gotcha popped up 2-3 months later, causing the rate to dramatically increase.

The first was even via webchat (so documented), and they still later claimed they could not honor the agreement b/c that offer expired - even though I signed up for it at the time. They say it was not independently verified; but we NEVER got anything from them about that.

In short, my experience with them in terms of rate discussions has been very poor. And I'm really not that hard to please on stuff like this.

At this point, I really hate being tied to TWC and am hoping FIOS or Uverse hits my neighborhood soon.

just went through this last month- got the letter, even got as far as scheduling direct tv to come out and install b/c I was so ticked off at the rate increase in the letter. Called TW the day after my contract expired and they kept me at my current rate with no contract requirements. Since I have landline and road runner through them and my alternative is century link, I stayed with them. fingers crossed for new services to come into my area...
