Just let this project die... or at least wait until more than 10 people use the Toll Way each morning... I do enjoy how they claim the other routes will have little impact on homes... no matter which route will have major impact on homes... I for one stand with the state, time to kill this and save the money and use it for something decent

I think they should at least extend it down to 401 - this part of the route does not seem to be in dispute.

The Red Route and the Orange Route diverge about a mile west of 401. The Orange Route passes harmlessly south of my house. The Red Route obliterates my next door neighbor's house, one across the street, and takes out half of my front yard. I would dispute the Red Route.

I love it that the federal governmentis swapping down NC's radical rightwing legislature. The courts are doing the same thing. Those kooks are a national embarrassment.

Regarding traffic volume, it really is a case of "build it and they will come". Once NC-540 hits US 1, there will be a significant jump in traffic because it will be a shorter route for drivers on a major highway to get to Durham. When/if NC-540 hits I-40 (near the Johnston/Wake line), that southern section will get a bunch of traffic coming off I-40, or drivers from the west going to I-40 East.

The original section of I-540 didn't have much traffic, until it started linking to high volume roads like US-1/Capital Blvd.

Yep I don't have enough fingers to count all the Clayton folks that commute to RTP at my work.

The irony is that they probably live in Clayton, as opposed to Morrisville or Cary, because houses are cheaper. Save $100 a month on a mortgage so that they can instead spend $100 a month in tolls?

You can't really look at just dollars. In my opinion, my time is worth money. Sure I'm throwing money at toll fees, however I'm saving upwards of 15 minutes in a commute. That's 30 minutes back-forth time I now have to do whatever else I want to do in the day. That is often coupled with less stress than dealing with the mayhem that is I-40/US-1 at times.

THIS! Yes. I live outside of Clayton and would benefit from the completion of this loop greatly. So many times I will take 540 through Knightdale and lament the fact that I have to get off and take back roads to get to my destination. (yes, I know - first world problems).

The current 540 expansion south of the beltline doesn't go anywhere. There is a reason there is no traffic going that way.
