Wow that store looks fantastic! I've heard rumors of expansion plans for the Wade Avenue and Cary Whole Foods; I wonder if they're follow the same guidelines as this one.
I also wonder how this will affect Earth Fare. Poor store seems to already be hurting for customers which is so strange to me considering where it is located. Granted their prepared food selection sucks, but I prefer Earth Fare to Whole Foods when it comes to the butcher, produce, etc. I also like that they're an NC company. I wouldn't mind seeing an Earth Fare open up in the East Cary area!
Rediculous prices at Whole Foods aka Whole Paycheck.
We now go to Trader Joes, better quality, better selection and much better prices
While I certainly can not afford to do all my shopping at Whole Foods, I did quick trip through the veggies. A pint of organic blueberries was 3.99. I had paid that amount for a 1/2 pint of conventional blueberries at Kroger. (I don't usually spend 3.99 on a 1/2 pint of berries... but I have a health condition I'm dealing with and berries are one those things I need.)
The grapefruit were HUGE and 1.29 a piece. I think I paid .99 for them at Kroger, but they were smaller and not as good.
But I did pay waaaayyyy to much for pork chops, because it was raining and I did not want to make another stop on the way home.
Trader Joe's is okay for some things, but I don't care much for their produce, and their overall selection is a lot smaller than WF.
There are good deals to be had at WF. Like PDXmom, I don't do all of my shopping there. However, there are things I prefer to get at WF (such as produce), and look for good prices. Sometimes the price is slightly higher, but I'm willing to pay a few pennies more for better quality.
They recently had ground chuck on sale for $2.99/lb. I bought several pounds to stock up. Their meat is better quality and taste, plus they grind it on the premises. You can't say that about every store.
