I am looking for furniture consignment/resale type stores in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill/Cary Area.

I'm not looking for antiques, but used furniture, anywhere from 10-60 years old. I'm really looking for unique type pieces, just interesting items to use to decorate my home. I'm not necessarily after the "bargain" - I'd rather have well made and quality type items.

Do you know of stores that specialize in this type of furniture?

Try Consigning Design in Cary. Here's the link:

Consigning Design

I know they get quite a few high end items. Hope this helps.

I second this! It can be hit or miss- so talk to the employees & find out when things are typically are put out on the floor.

I recently had Once and Again in Durham sell some pieces for me. Their pricing model prices the items at a fairly high price in the beginning and then reduces them by a certain % every 30 days. If the items don't sell in 120 days you either pick the items up or they donate them. They took a Duncan Phyfe style drop leaf table which noone on Craigslist wanted and Consigning Design refused and sold it in ~60 days.

Their store is not nearly as packed as Consigning Design but they do have some interesting pieces. When I dropped my furniture off they had a sideboard made out of ewe (I had never seen anything made out of ewe before) - of course it had just arrived and they were trying to sell it for $4500.
