I must be living in a hole, lol...I pulled up to Kirkland Home in Brier Creek today and it's closed...so sad...I would go here weekly, but haven't been in a few weeks...I'm shocked, so sad to see that store closed...loved that store... Then to my surprise, ACE Hardware also closed... Wow, I know the economy slowed, but wow...just thought I would share the information...
I was always surprised by that ACE hardware being up there (the one at Alexander/Page, right?). There are certain areas of town where an ACE hardware would do alright, but I never thought that location was one of them.
Yeah, the "Brier Creek" Ace closed several months ago. That was definitely not the best location. Plus calling it Brier Creek when it was miles away probably just confused people.
I was at the Brier Creek Kirklands the other day...everything was 20% off. I asked the woman behind the counter and she told me that they were moving all their stuff to the store at Pleasant Valley because it was a larger store. Seemed strange since I don't remember that store being any larger?
The only redeeming attribute to ACE hardware was in a lot of stores you could reach into the back of the shelf and find some older USA made products before being outsourced to China. The one over in N Raleigh had a lot and I bought a bunch using those 50% off black Friday coupons.
The Ace at Page and Alexander was unusually large for an Ace, in terms of square footage. Larger stores = higher overhead = higher sales volume to break even. I believe it was a franchise operated by Town & Country, which has eight remaining Ace's in the Triangle.
I'm sorry the hardware store closed. There were several times I'd go there instead of driving from Brier Creek to the Home Depot in Durham or the nearest Lowes Hardware.
Speaking of stores closing, it's not the same but the Brier Creek Lowes grocery store is closing their pharmacy. I found it very convenient. Apparently this location is the only one with a pharmacy.
so true, never really went over to Page Rd & TW Alexander other than to go to ACE Hardware....oh well...I work in RTP so I'll go to the one in Morrisville... I'll have to check out the Pleasant Valley or Beaver Creek Kirkland when I have time...Thanks everyone.
Oh wow, I frequent Lowe's Food alot over here, good to know the pharmacy is closing...thanks.
