Are there any local stores that have a particularly good selection of smaller size women's clothing (i.e. size 4)? I used to be a die hard Kohl's shopper, but as my size has dropped, so has their selection! I dislike malls in general and go to Cary Towne Center because it isn't crowded, but I think I'm going to have to suck it up and go to Crabtree Valley or Southpoint. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm not looking for expensive designer clothes, just every day clothes in smaller sizes.

Thanks!

Ann Taylor Loft, New Yorkand Company, Abercrombie and Fitch, Banana Republic, American Eagle and Gap I think have the biggest selection of smaller clothes and go down to 00. Also if you get European sizes you can get them smaller (ie 24, 25) .

Try looking at JJill as well - there is one at Crabtree mall. The sale rack is especially great for sizes on the smaller side. I tend to get great deals on sweaters and outfits for my DD there in size S or XS.

I have a very difficult time finding clothes that fit well due to wearing smaller sizes, and I find that I have the best luck at Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic and Express. Loft and BR both offer petite sizes as well. Sign up for their email lists and they will send out sale notifications and sometimes send out special coupons.

Old Navy. Their stuff is cheap and some of it is not great quality but, again, it's cheap, and some IS good quality. It just depends what factory is comes from, I guess. And, some of it is looks like it's for teens, but some does not.

You are right that the stores often increase the size of their sizes, to make women feel like they are in a "smaller" size, so they can say "oh, I wear a two in this" and be more likely to buy it.

It's frustrating because when they always changes their sizes, I am always starting from scratch in terms of trying stuff on.

Another one I just thought of is the J Crew outlet in Mebane.

I avoid the mall at all costs. Target and/or Wal-Mart works for me. At Wal-Mart, their Faded Glory size 4's are a pretty good fit for me, especially jeans. I don't always care for the tops in that brand though, but I can fit into pretty much any size small brand so I like the selection of tops from Target or Kohls. Target jeans/pants in size 4 are huge...no luck there.

Try the internet too if you can't find the size you need in the store. I'm skinny and tall - a double whammy - so I know first hand!
