Does an illegal with no car insurance crash into my car and do about $6000 in damage and the Raleigh Police Dept. lets him drive away with two tickets. Unreal.
It happened to a friend of a friend a few months ago. Horrifying. As far as I know, nothing happened to the unlicensed, uninsured driver who hit her head on.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know he (or she) was "an illegal". Did they say they were? Seriously, I haven't figured out how to tell yet...
I'm sorry for your day. Under any circumstances, a wreck sucks.
No license and he gave the officer his green card. He did not know his address and I asked where he lived and he said Mexico.
So no license and the police officer wrote a ticket and allowed the offender to drive away? That, IMHO, is a serious breach of public trust and the officer should be reprimanded. The car should have been impounded on the spot and the offender either told to hit the sidewalk and walk home or put in cuffs and hauled to the station for that amount of property damage done.
If he had a green card, he was a legal immigrant. At least he was when it was issued.
