I am new to the forum. I am looking for a church in the raleigh area. I don't mind driving 10-15 miles max (cary,etc.). I don't want to sound picky but I am looking for a mixed congregration. I like contemporary music but I am not all about attending a rock concert at church. I attended a church in eastern nc and it was awesome. The church had a choir yet they sung contemporary music and traditional. The pastor was teaching the sermon and not preaching it. And the congregation was mixed ethnic groups. I am looking for Christ centered teaching. I don't like the yelling sermons just someone that breaks it down for you yet its powerful. I don't mind putting on nice clothes either. I never wore jeans to church growing up but I don't mind others that do.Does anyone have a few suggestions. Thanks

Connections Church is definitely one you should check out. But be forewarned that some Sundays it looks incredibly mixed (white, black, asian, latino, caribbean, and lots of mixed couples) and some weeks the non-whites are in lesser numbers.

The great thing is that you can listen to a podcast to hear the messages. The lead pastor is an incredibly gifted teacher and you indeed feel like he is talking to you instead of "preaching/yelling" as it is the custom in some churches.

Connections is an incredibly social church so you have the opportunity to meet and mix with people outside of Sunday morning. Just this month we have fishing trips, camp outs, tropical garden parties and game nights.

Here is the website Raleigh Churches - Non-denominational: Connections Church - Raleigh, Cary, Apex

College Park Baptist church in west Cary is an option. I started going there about a year ago, and there is certainly diversity in a small congregation. No rock concert - just Christ honoring music and great teaching.
